Biography
Mgr. Kateřina Sitařová
Born in 1977 in Šumperk, she graduated from schools in the Czech Republic, East Germany and Austria (matriculation), she holds a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague in German interpreting and translation and general linguistics and phonetics. Since 2000 she has been working as a freelance interpreter on the Czech market, since 2008 she has been an accredited interpreter for the interpreting services of the European institutions (DG SCIC and DG Interpretation) and regularly interprets for the European Council, the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Court of Justice – her working languages are Czech, German, English and Slovak. She has been a lecturer at Euromasters in Conference Interpreting since 2008. From 2009 to 2022 she worked as an assistant professor at the Institute of Translatology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, where she taught interpreting and speaking techniques. In addition to interpreting, she also works in literary translation (about 10 titles) and film subtitling. She is a member of the professional organizations Association of Conference Interpreters and AIIC. She regularly interprets for German-speaking embassies in the Czech Republic and Czech state and constitutional authorities.
